Showcase your talent and do good for the Environment, create a poster!!! We invite all CMS Students to showcase their artistic talent and their commitment to environmental stewardship by participating in the CMS Energy Poster Contest. This contest will help CMS improve its Energy Stewardship by involving Students in Energy Conservation Awareness. Theme: Any theme involving Energy Conservation or Renewable Energy is good. Posters should exhibit creativity, emotional appeal, and clarity in delivering a relevant message. Rules: All students are eligible to design an energy conservation poster. All designs must be original (no use of copy write materials). The poster must scale up to 11” x 17” size and can be done on any media including photography and computer graphics. The student’s name, date, teacher’s name, and school must be marked on the back of the poster. The Student’s Name/Autograph may appear in small type on the lower right hand side of the Artwork, no larger than ½” x 1 ½”. PS: Some ways to save Energy at CMS; turn off lights, keep windows & keep doors closed, remove personal appliances, turn off TV’s, shutdown computers at the power bars when not in use, turn off and unplug office equipment, check to see if outside lights are on during the day, report excessively hot and cold rooms, use blinds to control light and heat into classrooms, turn off smart boards if not in use for more than 40 minutes, check weather stripping on doors to avoid heat loss, turn off cafeteria milk coolers if not in use, remove desk lamps or replace bulbs with fluorescents, turn off lights in the cafeteria between breakfast and lunch and after lunch , turn off gym lights when not in use, teachers use ½ classroom lights during planning times, consider walking or biking to school or car pooling. How CMS is saving energy: Retro commissioning, Building control systems, real time monitoring, photo voltaic panels, solar hot water panels, T12 to T8 light conversions, more efficient Chillers and air conditioners, Instantaneous water heaters, occupancy sensors, computer shutdown software. Posters are due to the school by January 25, 2012. |
